AKIM Israel is the national association that represents 30,000 mentally handicapped people and their families. AKIM was founded in 1951 by a group of parents to mentally handicapped children AKIM protects the rights of the mentally handicapped public and their families, We accompany and advise the family of the mentally handicapped every step of the way. AKIM's social service promotes the establishment and operation of services for the mentally handicapped in the community, including day care centers for infants, and for adults, hostels, apartments in the community, employment and job placement programs in the open market. |
